Kendrick Ball Jr., 165lbs, of
Rafael Valencia, lbs, of Worcester, MA, defeated Medford, Ore. by four round unanimous decision. Ball landed the smarter, flashier punches throughout the fight while Valencia looked to smother his efforts. In the fourth Ball looked close to scoring a knockdown when he bloodied the nose of Valencia and had him absorbing punishment. At the end of four the three ringside judges all saw the bout the same at 40-36 a piece. Ball improved to 4-0-1 (3) while Valencia dropped to 3-5-1 (2).
Cristobal Marrero, 144lbs, of
Bruno Dias, 146lbs, of New London, CT, made quick work of Woburn, MA, stopping him at 2:32 of round number one after a vicious body assault. Marrero improves to 2-0 (2) with the win and Dias drops to 0-2.
Jose Rivera, 168lbs, of
Hartford, CT got things done quickly with a first round stoppage of , 168lbs, of Ben Peak Shrewsbury, MA. Rivera caught Peak with a big right that put him flat on his back where he was counted out by referee Joey Lupino. The time was 2:34 of the first. Rivera improves to 2-0 (2) while Ben Peak makes his pro debut, now 0-1.
In the first bout of the night Jonathan Figueroa, 141lbs, of
Isaiah Robinson, 147lbs, of Hartford, CT won a lopsided unanimous decision over 3-4 (2). Durham, N.C. Figueroa pushed the action throughout, working behind a busy stinging jab and a hard right hand. In the final half of round four he bloodied the nose of Robinson, slamming him with right hands in a neutral corner.
